Milton Lilbourne is in the middle of the Pewsey Vale which is itself bounded by Salisbury Plain and the Savanake Forest to the north. People have lived in Wiltshire for thousands of years so we have plenty of stone age hill forts as well as Stonehenge and the circle of huge stones at Avebury. Throughout the Vale there are many delightful little villages with thatched cottages and there are also fine stately homes too. These villages often have nice attractive pubs serving very good food, we have a Michelin star just twenty minutes away. Here in Milton you can switch off, or explore, and only be disturbed by the occasional tractor or the sound of horse’s hooves. The Kennet & Avon canal is about a mile away and there are four golf courses within half an hour.
Pewsey is about a five minute drive, it has a railway station on the Paddington to Exeter line and a large Co-op
supermarket. It also has a good tennis club with excellent hard courts available.
Marlborough is larger and about fifteen minutes through the Savanake forest, it has a large Waitrose in the centre of the town. It has a fine wide High Street with lots of busy shops and many places to eat. There is a street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
